Seroprevalence of Influenza A/H1N1 virus among patient with Chronic Kidney Disease in North-Eastern Nigeria

Introduction: Influenza A H1N1 infection can cause respiratory and multiple organ failure, which lead to fatality. The prevalence of circulating viral IgG antibodies among patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is not well understood. This study aimed investigate the CKD. Methods: was conducted at University Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) from January November 2020. Ethical approval obtained Committee, informed consent participants. Patients a Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) less than or equal 90mL/min associated CKD risk factors proteinuria were included, while GFR 90 mL/min without greater excluded. One hundred sixty consented subjects had their blood samples collected analyzed for using ELISA technique. Other sociodemographic health information patient records. Results: Out 160 tested, 23 (14.4%) seropositive influenza (H1N1) antibodies. seroprevalence A/H1N1 higher in age groups 35-44 years 55-64 (8 34.8%). females (17 73.9%) males (6 26.1%). Most normal body mass index (10 43.5%). stage 3 highest number 43.5%) P value > 0.594. Conclusion: suggests that virus may be considered as an additional factor patients, particularly Stage 5 - End Renal
